Do you like having lights to turn on when you walk into your house? What about power to heat your home or cool your refrigorator to store your food?? Be grateful that there are people doing this for you and everyone else so that we can have power. My husband is an underground coalminer, and this method is a lot safer. You people need to get off of your "save the environment" bullshit kicks and get over it. That's what reclaims are for. If the resources are there, why not use them. It is rediculous to let them sit there are go to waste. And the opinions in this article are bullshit. My family has lived in the marfork area for many many years and have NEVER complained so damn much about the "horrible" living conditions. They are all coal miners, and so were their fathers, and grand fathers, and so on. They are thankful to have jobs, and a way to support their families. They don't sit around and complain about their lives. Coal mining isn't a job, it's a way of life. They are grateful that they have homes and that they have somewhere to lay down their heads at night. They don't stress out that the mountain next to them is getting the top of it removed because it doesn't look pretty anymore and the pretty birds cant sit on it anymore. They realize that the coal that comes from that mountain will fuel the power that heats their home, cooks their food, and lights their home. I am disgusted that their are such ungrateful people in this world.
