By the grace of YHWH, I found this site and other studies and articles last night. I was researching about Kentucky as we were thinking of moving there as well as a few other places.

I seen something about mountaintop removal... I had not heard of this term before and decided to read about it. In a short amount of time I learned of this insane practice and how it not only kills the Earth we were put on here to be stewards of but also kills people, communities, wildlife and jobs.

I felt tears welling up as my stomach felt unsettled. I apologized to our Father for these horrible things people have done. Any one that thinks 'God' put coal for us to mine and destroy His land, His people, His animals, His food is seriously delusional and I do not say that lightly.

I guess because I don't live in the mountains I have not come across this before, though I wish I would have sooner. A few months ago I drove through WV for the first time to go to OH. I remember feeling depression and sadness and wondered why this energy was there. My friend said that the people around here are poor and their economy is horrible that is why.

I have met people that would be considered poor before but are happy and healthy living in the mountains (I can see how this is possible). I knew there had to be more to it. Why was this place feeling like this, why was there no jobs, lack of health in the mountains which are vibrant with healthy foods?

After last night, I know why most of WV felt like that, I know why the people and the land are suffering & depressed.

My senior year of H.S. (2000), I wrote a paper about alternative energy. Back then there were many good viable options and there are even more now. Why do we lie and say jobs will be lost using alternative methods, when this version of coal extraction has actually killed off many jobs? When alternative methods would actually not only create more jobs, they would save money over time, not kill the abundant healthy natural resources of the Mountains, etc., would not contaminate water, would not cause birth defects, would not kill off communities and culture?

I have read comments on both sides, those promoting coal are living in a haze of ignorance. What can I do to help this cause to stop this blasphemy to our Creator?

Needless to say I am thinking that KY, TN and other states I was considering are not true options due to the killing of mountain tops and water sources. We currently rent and are looking for land that will enable us to harness solar, wind and possibly hydro to be able to use YHWH's real ways He intended us to harness energy without harming what we are suppose to be taking care of (human life, animals, plants and Earth).

Wake up people, the narrow path is not easy, but it is possible and it is the one that leads to life!

I look forward to helping in any way that we can. I currently live in Benson, NC and am considering moving to NC mountain areas as well.

P.S. People think electricity is a necessity when it is a luxury. We use to live fine without it in the past. If we want the luxury, why not use sustainable, life & health promoting options instead?

Strip mining takes land that is utterly useless and makes it viable for industry. In southwest va. alone there airports, colleges, beautiful subdivisions, and industrial parks that provide even more jobs.
Goed put that coal in the ground for us to use. Let's mine it!

The fact coal companies do this is disgusting. The war with Iraq, sacrificing hundreds of troops for the country, really was sacrificing hundreds of slodiers for oil. Here, it is harder for others to realize such goes on when it doesn't happen near them. Sometimes people can't see what's right in their face. Too much goes on in the United States by "big coal". Big coal and big oil want to sell every little bit of their coal or oil before we finally switch over to alternative energy. We cannot allow this to continue.

I am wondering who took the photo of the mining (not the one with the bulldozer but the other one) and if I can have permission to use it in a Powerpoint talk to a school. Please email me if you get a chance!! Thanks!!
